The Crown I See
A coronation from three different perspectives across time
Hi everyone,
This is a poem that I wrote for Bradley Ramsey’s The Halls of Pandemonium event - specifically for the Day 1 prompt!
I hope you enjoy it!
Audrey will be back next Thursday!
The Crown I See
The crown I see,
That I will wear.
Ever in my visions,
The day when I will bear.
Much of my life,
Dedicated to study.
Learning how to lead and how to rule,
With justice and kindness in my heart.
When that crown touches my head,
Will I rule as a Sovereign should?
The crown I saw,
That I now wear.
It has finally arrived,
The days when I must bear.
“Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown,”
as Shakespeare’s Henry IV once said.
A crown first worn in the midst of war,
What more unease could there be?
But now that crown touches my head,
So I must rule as best I can.
The crown I see,
That I once wore.
Ever in my memories,
The day when I first bore.
All the power that I once had,
Was it wielded with justice and responsibility?
I can only hope so,
As the crown is passed.
Now that the crown no longer touches my head,
I can only hope that I left a brighter future ahead.

I like how the three POVs are from different points in the person’s life, reflecting on their history as a ruler. Also, look at you writing poetry, great work! 💜
